
Dubai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : In a crucial semifinal match of the Women’s Asia Cup, Bangladesh won the toss against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and chose to bowl first. Both teams are eager to secure a place in the final, scheduled for September 13.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana expressed her team’s strategy, stating, “We want to bowl first to take advantage of the pitch. Our goal is to play good cricket and implement our plans effectively. We aim to restrict India to a low score.”
On the other hand, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared her thoughts on batting first, saying, “We were considering batting first, so we’re glad for the opportunity. In T20, no team can be taken lightly. We will assess the powerplay and decide our approach as the game unfolds.”
India reached the semifinals by winning all three of their group matches. They secured a 94-run victory against Thailand, followed by a dominant 137-run win over Hong Kong. The team also triumphed over Pakistan, winning by seven wickets and finishing at the top of Group A.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, began their campaign with a 71-run win against Indonesia but faced a setback with a four-wicket loss to Sri Lanka. They bounced back with a 34-run victory over the UAE, clinching their spot in the semifinals.
Historically, the two teams have met 24 times, with India holding a significant advantage, having won 21 matches compared to Bangladesh’s three.
