Khandwa, June 15: BJP MP Gyaneshwar Patil addressed allegations of discrimination among farmers from Khandwa and Burhanpur on Sunday. He stated that all farmers in the region are equal in his eyes. “I advocate for the people of this area and work for every citizen without discrimination,” he asserted.
In response to concerns regarding Khandwa farmers’ dissatisfaction, he emphasized that it is incorrect to claim that Burhanpur farmers are benefiting while Khandwa farmers are not. He acknowledged both groups as vital contributors to agriculture. “Those attempting to divide people in this manner can never be true advocates for farmers,” he remarked.
Patil noted that he, along with local legislators and representatives, had previously assessed the situation by visiting fields during the soybean crop loss. They successfully secured nearly 24 crore rupees in compensation for Khandwa farmers by appealing to the collector and the Chief Minister.
He accused some individuals of spreading confusion for political gain. “Farmers will not be misled, as they know who truly advocates for their interests,” he stated.
The MP mentioned that he has raised issues faced by farmers growing various crops, including soybean, chili, onion, and taro, with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the Agriculture Minister. He also brought these matters to the Lok Sabha’s attention.
Patil emphasized his responsibility to address the concerns of banana farmers as well, stating that he represents all farmers, laborers, and traders because the public elected him for this purpose.
As an MP, he considers himself the voice of the people in the region and is committed to fulfilling his duties with integrity. While assessing the extent of damage is not his role, he believes it is his responsibility to amplify the voices of those affected. He assured that all representatives are working at their levels, with the administration also moving in the right direction.
