Election Commission is a Constitutional Body, Says O.P. Rajbhar Amid Opposition Criticism

O.P. Rajbhar defends the Election Commissions actions, dismissing Rahul Gandhis calls for resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Lucknow, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : O.P. Rajbhar, a cabinet minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, recently participated in the “Remove Anarchy, Save Democracy” march, where he addressed criticisms directed at the Election Commission and the opposition’s claims. He emphasized that the Election Commission is a constitutional body performing its duties responsibly. Rajbhar questioned the rationale behind the BJP and NDA coalition’s accusations against the Commission regarding the removal of names from the voter list.

He remarked that it is common for names to be removed from the voter list, particularly of those who have passed away. Rajbhar criticized the opposition for raising concerns over this issue, suggesting that they were previously complicit in allowing votes to be cast in the names of deceased individuals. He noted that the current uproar from opposition leaders stems from their own unease about these changes.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that protests would continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigns, Rajbhar took a jab at Gandhi, suggesting that if he understood the resignation process, he wouldn’t be demanding it on the streets. He pointed out that the roles of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and the President are integral to such a process, advising Gandhi to familiarize himself with the procedures.

Rajbhar also referenced an old video of Gandhi, mocking his claim about a machine that could turn potatoes into gold. He suggested that Gandhi often struggles to comprehend his own statements.

In light of Dhirendra Shastri’s comments, Rajbhar responded to criticism from Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav regarding religious faith. He questioned Yadav’s beliefs about Lord Krishna and criticized his fluctuating political stance, which he described as inconsistent, alternating between “Ali” and “Bajrangbali” slogans.
