BJP Urges Congress Leaders to Apologize at Golden Temple for 1984 Riots

BJP leader Manmeet Singh calls for Congress leaders to apologize at the Golden Temple for the 1984 riots, highlighting ongoing issues in Telangana.

Hyderabad, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Manmeet Singh has called on Congress politicians Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath to visit the Golden Temple and seek forgiveness for their roles in the 1984 Sikh riots. As November approaches, Singh noted that painful memories of that tragic period resurface. He accused the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, of corruption under the “Khelo India” initiative and expressed confidence that the BJP will contest the 2028 elections independently, aiming to establish its own chief minister in the state.

Recalling the violence that erupted after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Singh emphasized the brutality faced by Sikh families. He pointed out that many were killed and that prominent figures like Tytler and Sajjan Kumar were elevated to positions of power despite their involvement in the riots.

Singh urged Tytler and Nath to acknowledge their past actions by apologizing at the Golden Temple, suggesting that such a gesture could bring some solace to the Sikh community. He remarked that even after many years, the pain of those affected by the riots remains fresh, and tears continue to flow for lost loved ones.

On the topic of the Khelo India program, Singh questioned the government’s claims of developing world-class infrastructure in Telangana, especially given its financial constraints. He criticized the government for its inability to pay contractors and meet various promises, such as loan waivers for farmers. Despite these issues, he noted a continued emphasis on large-scale events like Khelo India.

Singh also addressed allegations of corruption surrounding the Miss Universe event and expressed skepticism about the integrity of the Khelo India initiative. He called for the program to proceed without corruption.

In response to a question about the relationship between the BRS and Congress, Singh highlighted a perceived collusion, noting that while they publicly accuse each other of corruption, little action has been taken. He criticized both parties for their lack of accountability and assured that the BJP would enter the 2028 elections alone, without forming alliances.

Ganesh Kunda, president of the Telangana BJP Youth Wing, echoed Singh’s sentiments, questioning why no arrests have been made regarding corruption claims against Congress related to the Kaleshwaram project. He stressed that the public is aware of the inaction and is demanding tangible results rather than mere rhetoric.

Tensions between the BRS and Congress continue to be a focal point, with citizens increasingly frustrated by the lack of decisive action on corruption allegations.
