Patna, March 2: Union Minister Nityanand Rai has responded to West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee’s opposition to the SIR issue. He accused her of committing sins in Bengal, claiming her politics relies on infiltrators. Rai questioned why Banerjee is upset if illegal voters are being removed from the electoral rolls.
During a media interaction in Patna, Rai stated that the TMC and Banerjee have engaged in sinful politics in Bengal. He asserted that their reliance on infiltrators has adversely affected the youth, who are struggling to find jobs. He claimed that these infiltrators have usurped the rights of local residents and monopolized available resources.
Rai further alleged that Banerjee aims to retain infiltrators in Bengal for the sake of appeasement politics. He asked why she is concerned about the removal of names from the voter list if they are not legitimate voters. He emphasized that the voter list should be accurate and that the SIR initiative is in the best interest of Bengal and the nation.
Regarding the RJD’s plans to contest Rajya Sabha elections, Rai remarked that if they have made up their minds, no one can stop them. However, he asserted that the RJD will not win a single seat, as the public has already rejected them. He noted that in the 2025 assembly elections, the public delivered a decisive blow to the RJD, which is remembered for its lawlessness, crime, and corruption. He highlighted that Bihar is now rapidly developing under the NDA government.
On the issue of Indians stranded amid tensions between Iran and Israel, Rai assured that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the central government is concerned about its citizens.
Extending Holi greetings, he wished everyone well, emphasizing the victory of good over evil, righteousness over unrighteousness, and truth over falsehood, symbolized by the ‘Holika Dahan.’ He hoped this auspicious occasion would eliminate negativity from everyone’s lives and spread love, harmony, and goodwill.
