While addressing journalists, Nitish received a call from his mother. He promptly paused the press conference to answer her call, informing her to ring back in five minutes. He then apologized to the reporters, stating that it was essential for him to take the call. This gesture resonated well with fans online.
One admirer remarked, “Every player’s true captain in life is their mother.” Another fan added, “The world can wait; priorities matter.” The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also shared a video of this moment on social media platform ‘X’, captioning, “The post-match press conference can wait, but a call from mom certainly cannot.”
In the match against Afghanistan, Nitish Kumar Reddy excelled with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 31 runs in his 4-over spell. He claimed the crucial wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi, both of whom had scored centuries. The rain-affected match saw Afghanistan bowled out for 194 runs.
For India, debutants Gurnoor Barar and Harsh Dubey each took 3 wickets. The Indian team successfully chased down the target of 195 runs in just 22.5 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process.
