Nitish Kumar Files Rajya Sabha Nomination Amid Support from BJP Leaders

Lucknow, March 5: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Following this, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma expressed his support, stating that he is also a member of the Rajya Sabha and will benefit from Kumar’s guidance.

During the nomination process, several ministers were present, including Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and Vijay Sinha.

Before filing his nomination, Kumar expressed his desire to join the Rajya Sabha through a post on X (formerly Twitter). He acknowledged the continuous trust and support he has received over the past two decades, which has enabled him to serve Bihar and its people diligently. He emphasized that their faith has contributed to Bihar’s new era of development and respect. Kumar also mentioned that it has been his long-standing wish to be a member of both houses of Parliament alongside the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

In response to Kumar’s nomination, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma remarked on Kumar’s extensive experience as a leader, having served as Chief Minister for 20 years. He noted that the Janata Dal (United) is Kumar’s creation, and if he wishes to join the Rajya Sabha, it is his decision. Sharma reassured that the opposition need not be concerned or comment on this matter.

Sharma welcomed Kumar’s decision, highlighting that it would provide him with valuable guidance in the Rajya Sabha. Kumar has stated that while he will step down as Chief Minister, he will continue to guide Bihar. Sharma affirmed that Kumar’s decision is in the interest of the nation and Bihar.

Regarding comments from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders, Sharma advised them to reflect on their own leadership, particularly questioning Tejashwi Yadav’s position as the national executive president in place of Lalu Yadav. He suggested that RJD should focus on its internal issues before criticizing Kumar.

Sharma further stated that Tejashwi Yadav is a defeated leader who has expelled family members from the party. He cautioned that those living in glass houses should not throw stones at others. He emphasized that Kumar is a seasoned leader, and Tejashwi should be more concerned about his own party, which he believes is stuck in a quagmire after recent electoral defeats in Bihar.
