Mumbai, May 8: Nida Khan, one of the main accused in a controversial conversion and harassment case linked to the TCS office in Nashik, has been arrested by Maharashtra police after evading capture for several days.
According to officials, Khan was apprehended on Thursday from a residential apartment in the Kaisar Colony area of Naregaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. It is reported that she had been living there with her parents, brother, and aunt. Police teams had been monitoring the location for nearly two days before executing the arrest.
The arrest was a joint operation conducted by the Nashik Special Investigation Team (SIT), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissionerate, and the Crime Branch. Investigators stated that due to the case’s seriousness and sensitivity, a special team was formed under the supervision of senior officials.
Police officials indicated that Khan was located based on technical surveillance and intelligence information. After completing legal formalities, she was presented in a local JMFC court for transit remand and subsequently taken to Nashik for further questioning and legal proceedings.
The SIT confirmed that Khan was wanted in a case registered at the Deolali Camp police station. Authorities noted that the arrest was made under the provisions of the BNSSS.
According to police sources, investigations into various aspects of the case are ongoing, and crucial information is being gathered through questioning the accused. If any other individuals are found to be involved during the investigation, legal action will be taken against them as well.
As reported by NDTV, Khan had previously sought anticipatory bail and temporary relief from arrest in Nashik court, claiming she was two months pregnant. However, the court denied her interim relief.
The controversy began when a female employee at the Nashik TCS office filed a complaint against her colleague, Danish Sheikh. The complainant alleged that Sheikh, despite being married, had deceived her into a physical relationship under the pretense of marriage.
Police documents indicate that Nida Khan, who is Danish Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made derogatory comments regarding the complainant’s religion and pressured her to convert. Investigators also claim that Khan and another accused, Tausif Akhtar, concealed Sheikh’s marital status from the complainant.
As the investigation progressed, several other women accused senior staff members at the Nashik branch of harassment. They reported facing mental and sexual harassment from February 2022 to March 2026, but their complaints were ignored by the human resources department.
To date, police have arrested seven individuals in connection with this case.
Following the revelations, TCS clarified in an official statement on social media platform X that Nida Khan was neither an HR manager nor responsible for the recruitment process. She held the position of Process Associate and had no leadership responsibilities. The company also stated that it had not received any complaints regarding this matter through its internal channels.
