Chandigarh, August 5 (H.S.) – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in Amritsar and Gurdaspur on Tuesday as part of its ongoing probe into illegal immigration cases. The operations continued for several hours, during which NIA officials seized several important documents, laptops, and other items.

The investigation follows the deportation of several youths from Haryana and Punjab who had travelled to the United States via the illegal “donkey route.” Since their return, the NIA has been actively investigating the case.
NIA teams carried out a raid at a residence in Shastri Nagar, Amritsar, where a team searched the house of a man named Vishal Sharma. Vishal runs an immigration business in Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar. Another NIA team raided a house in Chittorgarh village near Fatehgarh Churian in Gurdaspur, which belongs to a retired soldier, Kaka Fauji alias Kashmir Singh.
Local police were present during the search operations at both locations, and security in the areas was tightened. The NIA had received information regarding suspicious documents or activities linked to the youth’s business. Several key documents were seized during the raids at both sites.
