Congress Leader Udit Raj Questions Mahakal Standard Time Proposal

New Delhi, April 4: Congress leader Udit Raj has responded to the proposal of ‘Mahakal Standard Time’ (MST) as a replacement for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). He stated that no concept should be based solely on faith. “If it can be scientifically and logically proven, then we might consider supporting it,” he remarked.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had previously suggested that it is time to logically establish MST instead of GMT. In response, Udit Raj emphasized the need for global consensus on such matters. He criticized BJP leaders for frequently making baseless claims, asserting, “No concept should be based on faith. If it can be scientifically and logically proven, we may support it.”

He further commented on the narrative surrounding India’s historical contributions, saying, “We claim to be the world’s guru, asserting that the entire world follows us. While ancient India had advancements like plastic surgery, this knowledge seems absent today. The education system established by Europe is what everyone is using.”

Udit Raj also addressed remarks made by Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, head of the All India Imam Organization, regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). He stated, “A narrative is being constructed, and everyone knows the underlying motives. Previously, there was welfare for SC/ST communities, but since the abrogation of Article 370, discrimination has significantly increased. Officers from Northern India have been sent there, and the governor system has been exported. The LG is running the administration, leading to substantial discrimination against Dalits, which is evident even in government departments. The benefits of Article 370 have not reached SC/ST communities.”

He concluded by sharing feedback from residents, noting, “Many people feel that conditions were much better before the removal of Article 370. Now, they feel oppressed and humiliated, facing increased discrimination.”
