Patna, June 8: A tragic and shocking incident has emerged from Gopalganj, Bihar, where a newlywed woman died under suspicious circumstances just days after her marriage. The victim’s family has accused her in-laws of harassment for dowry and of strangling her to death.
The incident has caused a stir in the area. Upon receiving the report, police and forensic teams arrived at the scene and began their investigation. Currently, the woman’s husband has been arrested and is in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
This case is centered in the village of Jhurbati South Tola, located in the Baikunthpur police station area, where 22-year-old Jyoti Devi was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Devi, the wife of local resident Munna Ram. Family members claim that shortly after the wedding, the in-laws began demanding a car as part of the dowry. When this demand was not met, Jyoti faced continuous harassment. They allege that this ongoing abuse led to her murder.
Upon learning of the incident, Jyoti’s family rushed to the scene, only to find the household engulfed in mourning. They accused the in-laws of strangling Jyoti and attempting to pass off the death as natural. Following the incident, several family members from the in-laws’ side fled, deepening the family’s suspicions.
The Baikunthpur police arrived promptly at the scene. They inspected the site and called in a forensic team to gather evidence. The body was taken into custody and sent to the Model Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
Sadar SDPO-2 Rajesh Kumar stated that police received information about the suspicious death of a newlywed woman. A police team was dispatched immediately to investigate. The body has been sent for autopsy, and a First Information Report (FIR) is being filed based on the complaint from the victim’s family.
The SDPO noted that as part of the initial actions, the woman’s husband has been arrested and is in judicial custody. Every aspect of the case is under investigation. Further actions will be determined based on the autopsy report and scientific analysis.
For now, it remains unclear whether this case involves dowry-related murder or if there were other causes for her death. The truth will only be revealed after the police investigation and autopsy report are completed. However, the death of a newlywed woman shortly after her marriage has raised numerous questions.
