Chasing a target of 170 runs, New Zealand’s openers, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, provided a blazing start, amassing 117 runs for the first wicket in just 9.1 overs. Seifert contributed 58 runs off 33 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes before being dismissed.
Following Seifert’s departure, Finn Allen unleashed a storm in Kolkata. The right-handed batsman achieved his century in just 33 balls, marking the fastest hundred in T20 World Cup history. Allen’s innings included 8 sixes and 10 fours, finishing with an unbeaten 100 runs. He struck the winning boundary, while Ravindra supported him with 13 runs off 11 balls. New Zealand completed their chase in 12.5 overs, scoring 173 runs for the loss of just 1 wicket.
