Mumbai, July 20: The highly anticipated new season of the popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ is set to kick off in September. Jio Studios has launched a coffee table book titled ‘India’s Big Reality’, which chronicles the show’s remarkable journey, its impact on society and culture, and its long-standing legacy.
This book elaborates on how ‘Bigg Boss’ transforms brands into vibrant experiences for its audience.
Mahesh Shetty, Head of TV and Entertainment Sales at Jio Studios, commented on the show, stating, “Over the past two decades, ‘Bigg Boss’ has continuously reinvented itself. During this time, the show’s standards, audience engagement, and cultural impact have consistently grown. This festive season, we are celebrating the biggest milestone yet. The simultaneous launch of six versions in different languages marks the grandest celebration of the show.”
He added, “The ongoing success of ‘Bigg Boss’ is largely due to its ability to keep audiences engaged over extended periods and create shared cultural experiences that translate into tangible business outcomes for brands. ‘India’s Big Reality’ presents this journey through data and key insights, offering marketers a strategic perspective on how this format has evolved into a show with significant cultural impact and popularity.”
Ramesh, Head of Entertainment Sales and Digital at Jio Studios, noted, “In today’s landscape, where audience attention is fragmented, especially during the festive season, ‘Bigg Boss’ serves as a powerful attraction. It captures the unified attention of viewers during the three most crucial sales months of the year. With features like 24/7 live feeds, billions of votes, and live chats, audience engagement has increased by 47% year-on-year. The show transforms passive viewers into active participants.”
Ramesh emphasized, “Such deep and measurable engagement offers brands a unique opportunity. It allows them to move beyond traditional media strategies and experiment with new approaches where content, culture, and commerce intersect.”
The coffee table book also explains why ‘Bigg Boss’ is much more than just a viewing experience. ‘Bigg Boss’ is an Indian reality competition television franchise adapted from the original Dutch format ‘Big Brother’. Contestants, referred to as ‘housemates’, live together in a specially designed house that is isolated from the outside world.
The new seasons of the controversial reality show will premiere in September across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali editions.
