New Mineral Discovery Marks a Milestone in Chhattisgarhs Development: CM Saye

Raipur, June 23: A significant milestone has been achieved in Chhattisgarh’s development journey today. The discovery of diamonds during scientific exploration in the Baloda-Belmondi diamond block, located in the Mahasamund district’s Saraipali area, has taken a crucial step towards enhancing the state’s mineral wealth.

NMDC-CMDC Limited has reported the extraction of five diamonds weighing a total of 1.22 carats from a 200-ton bulk sample tested and processed. This achievement confirms the potential for diamond mining in the region and could pave the way for large-scale investments, revenue generation, and new job opportunities in the future.

According to information provided by NMDC-CMDC Limited to the state government, a scientific survey, stream sediment sampling, geophysical studies, and exploratory drilling were conducted in the Baloda-Belmondi area. Approximately 200 tons of mineral material was collected for testing. Among the five diamonds obtained, two are of gem quality, while three belong to other categories.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Saye expressed enthusiasm over this achievement, stating that it represents a significant advancement in the state’s economic potential and the scientific exploitation of its natural resources. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to scientific exploration, transparent management, and industrial development based on value addition.

Chhattisgarh is already one of the leading mineral-producing states in the country, excelling in iron ore, coal, bauxite, and limestone. The confirmation of diamond potential will further enrich the state’s mineral diversity and strengthen its mineral economy.

The Chief Minister noted that the state government’s policy extends beyond mere mineral extraction. It focuses on promoting mineral-based industries, value addition units, and local job creation. The aim is to encourage investment, industry, and economic activities through mineral resources, thereby realizing the vision of a developed Chhattisgarh.

Saye stated that the state government is working equally across all sectors, including minerals, agriculture, industry, infrastructure, and human resource development, to build a developed Chhattisgarh. The success from the Baloda-Belmondi area will provide the state with a new identity in terms of mineral potential at the national level, opening new doors for investment, employment, and inclusive development.

He expressed confidence that scientific exploration and modern technologies will accelerate the search for mineral wealth in other potential areas of the state, positioning Chhattisgarh as a major hub for the country’s mineral-based economy and industrial development in the coming years.

Experts believe that this initial success is a crucial indicator for future extensive exploration efforts. It will pave the way for comprehensive studies regarding the region’s geological structure, resource capacity, and potential reserves. Upcoming surveys and tests will allow for a more accurate assessment of the area’s true potential.

It is noteworthy that the diamonds obtained from the bulk sample testing in the Baloda-Belmondi diamond block are securely stored in NMDC’s strongroom located in Panna, and further actions will be conducted according to regulations and scientific standards.
