Nepals Election Day: Citizens Hope for a Government that Understands Their Struggles

Kathmandu, March 5: Excitement fills the air in Nepal as the nation holds its general elections today. Voting commenced at 7 AM for the 275 parliamentary seats and will continue until 5 PM. Long queues have formed at polling stations since the morning, with citizens eagerly participating in this significant democratic event. Among them, senior leader Balendra Shah of the National Independent Party cast his vote at the polling station located in Annapurna English School, Sinamangal.

The enthusiasm for voting is evident among all age groups at the polling centers. Voter Sanjaya Shrestha from Sinamangal expressed her sense of duty as a responsible citizen, stating that she came to vote with this spirit.

According to her, the direction in which Nepal progresses over the next five years depends on the election results. She emphasized that it is also the responsibility of the citizens to fulfill their roles with integrity.

Sanjaya further highlighted several pressing issues that require serious government attention, particularly concerning the situation of people with disabilities. As a visually impaired individual herself, she hopes for policies that will improve the lives of disabled people in Nepal.

She noted that the economic status, opportunities, and overall well-being of disabled individuals largely depend on government policies and decisions. Sanjaya expressed hope that the incoming government will understand the challenges faced by marginalized groups and take concrete steps to enhance their lives.

Another voter stressed the urgent need for security and good governance in the country. They believe that a secure nation with a strong governance system is essential for effectively addressing citizens’ needs. They urged the government to prioritize national security before focusing on development, employment, and other critical services for the populace.
