NEET UG Paper Leak Sparks Outrage in Parliamentary Committee Meeting

New Delhi, May 21: A significant meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education took place on Thursday. This meeting was convened to discuss various issues, including the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. Opposition members expressed their strong dissatisfaction and raised pointed questions regarding the incident.

The Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Abhishek Singh, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Education, attended the meeting. The NTA is responsible for conducting this competitive examination, which is why the committee summoned its Director-General for detailed information on the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. The NEET UG exam was held on May 3 but was canceled on May 11 due to the leak. Currently, the CBI is conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter. The re-examination for NEET UG is scheduled for June 21.

The meeting, chaired by Congress MP Digvijay Singh, aimed to review the transparency, confidentiality, security measures, and the status of the ongoing investigation related to the NEET UG examination system.

During this crucial meeting, the committee also discussed the K. Radhakrishnan report in detail. The report suggests measures to make the NEET UG examination secure and transparent. It includes recommendations for maintaining the confidentiality of question papers, digital monitoring, and enhancing transparency at examination centers.

The Ministry of Education has stated that it has fully implemented the recommendations of the Radhakrishnan committee. During the meeting, the NTA’s DG provided updates on the ongoing investigation, security measures, and improvements being made in the examination process.

According to reports, the committee was informed that the CBI is cooperating in the investigation of the paper leak case. The CBI is probing suspicious networks, technical means, and methods of accessing the question paper before the exam.

Several opposition MPs expressed their concerns regarding the NEET examination process, security systems, and breaches of question paper confidentiality. Committee members emphasized the need for strict and technology-based measures to maintain the credibility of the examination and prevent such incidents in the future.

The NTA informed the committee that it has implemented several improvements to make the examination system more secure and transparent. These include strengthening question paper security protocols, expanding monitoring mechanisms, upgrading digital verification systems at examination centers, and limiting access to sensitive information.

During the meeting, opposition MPs voiced their concerns that incidents like paper leaks affect the future of millions of students and undermine public trust in the examination system.

Committee members stressed the importance of ensuring strict action against those responsible and completing the investigation in a timely manner. They also expressed the expectation that future examinations would provide candidates with a fair, transparent, and secure testing environment to maintain the credibility of competitive exams and student trust.

Meanwhile, the NTA has activated the NEET UG 2026 refund facility on its official website as of Thursday.
