NCR Weather to Change Again with Rain and Thunderstorms

The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) is set to change once again. According to the meteorological department, Delhi-NCR will experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong surface winds on January 31 and February 1.

This weather change will also bring a drop in the minimum temperature, intensifying the cold conditions. On January 30, moderate fog is expected to cover the NCR region. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 19 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may drop to 10 degrees Celsius.

January 31 will see a more active weather pattern. The day will begin with moderate to dense fog, followed by the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds in the evening and night. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 7 degrees Celsius on this day.

Similarly, February 1 is forecasted to have rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Morning fog is expected, with rain and strong winds likely to return during the evening and night. The maximum temperature may be around 18 degrees Celsius, with the minimum at 12 degrees Celsius. Continuous strong winds and possible rainfall have improved the air quality in the NCR.

Several areas have seen an improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI). Aya Nagar and CRRI Mathura Road recorded AQI levels of 188 (Yellow Zone), while Pusa registered 169. However, pollution remains severe in some parts, with AQI readings in the red zone at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range (304), RK Puram (316), Siri Fort (314), and Wazirpur (303).

In Noida, Sector-62 reported an AQI of 183 (Yellow Zone), whereas Sectors 125, 1, and 116 recorded AQI levels between 264 and 267. Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram (288), Sanjay Nagar (217), and Vasundhara (314) showed varying air quality categories, with Loni remaining in the severe category at 316 AQI.

The meteorological department has advised people to stay cautious during rain and strong winds. It is recommended to avoid open areas, trees, and electric poles, and vehicle drivers are urged to be careful in foggy conditions.
