Mumbai, May 27: In the midst of political upheaval in Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has conveyed a strong message of unity and organizational strength. During a significant meeting with legislators, MPs, and senior officials, party president and Deputy Chief Minister Supriya Pawar emphasized the need for all leaders to speak with “one voice” for the party’s fortification.
This meeting was convened following the release of the new national executive list, which sparked internal unrest and confusion within the organization. The absence of several prominent and veteran leaders from the list submitted to the Election Commission intensified political discussions.
Supriya Pawar has been appointed as the national president, with her elder son, Parth Pawar, taking on the role of national general secretary, and her younger son, Jai Pawar, designated as national secretary. The omission of senior leaders like Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal, and Dilip Walse Patil from the list has led to speculations about significant changes and potential internal strife within the party.
However, party spokespersons later clarified that Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare remain in their previous positions, yet there is still a lingering hope for clarity among party workers and leaders regarding the situation.
During the meeting, Supriya Pawar acknowledged the challenge of leading the organization after the untimely passing of Ajit Pawar. She expressed optimism about the party’s future, stating that collective effort from all leaders and workers is essential.
The meeting also witnessed a brief exchange between state unit chief Sunil Tatkare and senior leader Chhagan Bhujbal. While Tatkare was speaking, Bhujbal urged him to shorten his remarks due to an upcoming coordination committee meeting with their allies. Despite this, Tatkare continued without interruption, asserting that he and Praful Patel were portrayed as “villains” in the party, despite their commitment to strengthening the organization.
Tatkare reiterated that he had clarified in a recent press conference that all misunderstandings within the party had been resolved. He also announced plans for party leaders and workers to embark on a joint tour across Maharashtra to further solidify the organization.
He mentioned that a revised letter would soon be submitted to the Election Commission, and positive discussions had taken place among the party’s top leaders regarding this matter.
Additionally, three experts presented on the role of SIR and its significance within the organization. The party has also decided to celebrate its foundation day on June 10 on a grand scale to convey that it is prepared to face any challenge ahead.
