Beijing, February 13: David Ranibok Adeang, the President of Nauru, recently visited Changmen city in China’s Guangdong province. During his visit, he participated in a cruise ship tour of the Bird Paradise National Wetland Park, where he was interviewed by the China Media Group’s “High-Level Interview” program.
In the interview, Adeang shared his reflections on visiting China. He noted that while the country is often associated with large cities, dazzling lights, and factories, there is a deep commitment to environmental protection that has been upheld for generations. He expressed admiration for the local people’s love for their environment, stating that protecting it is essential for ensuring a livable space for future generations.
Last July, President Adeang had also visited Changmen. More than six months later, he returned to meet friends, celebrate the Lunar New Year, and promote business collaborations.
During the interview, Adeang highlighted the new advancements in China-Nauru cooperation over the past seven months. He mentioned that if one visits Nauru today, they will see that the entire island is illuminated by solar lights provided by Changmen. “As President, I take great pride in this achievement,” he remarked. Additionally, he shared that he planted lettuce for the first time in a hydroponic garden, marking a successful milestone for lettuce cultivation in Nauru, with the seeds also sourced from Changmen. Adeang expressed his eagerness to learn more about Changmen, emphasizing the need for repeated visits to gather knowledge.
