Nagpur, August 26: Congress leaders have raised objections after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma referred to Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi as ‘mad.’ Maharashtra Congress leader Nanao Patole emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum in political discourse.
In a conversation in Nagpur, Patole stated that such language should not be used regarding the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha. “Who is mad? The people of the country are aware. They know how he became the Chief Minister,” he remarked, urging caution before making statements.
Patole also addressed the protests against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s event by the Mayor of New York. He noted that the RSS originated in Maharashtra and has since spread globally. He claimed it is not a registered organization and has opened accounts in 36 countries, accumulating billions of rupees. “Where did this money come from? Why was it collected, and how is it being spent? No one has any reports on this,” he questioned, suggesting Bhagwat should respond to the global scrutiny of the organization.
Commenting on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statements regarding infiltration, Patole asked who is stopping him from addressing the issue. “They talk about infiltration during elections. In Arunachal Pradesh, infiltration has already occurred; China has entered. Why is there no mention of China?” he criticized, asserting that the current government has weakened the nation.
Regarding the Rakhi advertisement controversy, Patole stated that the comments from BJP MPs are not a concern for them. He pointed out that even members of their own party have spoken against such statements, indicating that Congress does not need to respond.
On the topic of Kangana Ranaut, Patole remarked that if she wishes to speak about Rahul Gandhi, she is free to do so. However, he advised her to consider how she is trolled whenever she makes a statement.
