Nalanda University to Host Two-Day Nalanda Development Dialogue Starting March 8

Rajgir, March 7: Nalanda University in Bihar is set to host the two-day ‘Nalanda Development Dialogue (NDD)’ starting March 8, Sunday. This international policy seminar aims to bring together global policymakers, development experts, and scholars from various fields to discuss crucial topics related to sustainable, inclusive development and contemporary global challenges and opportunities.

Organized by the Center for Studies in Development and Sustainability (CSDS) at Nalanda University, the inaugural edition of this international seminar is envisioned as a significant platform for policy dialogue and knowledge exchange. It will feature keynote speeches, thematic sessions, and policy discussions focusing on sustainable development, regional cooperation, economic transformation, and global partnerships.

This initiative draws inspiration from the ancient Nalanda’s tradition of knowledge exchange, where scholars from around the world gathered to share ideas. Nalanda University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi, stated, “The Nalanda Development Dialogue is a vital effort to revive the ancient Nalanda’s tradition of global intellectual discourse and promote meaningful policy discussions on sustainable and inclusive development.”

The seminar will see participation from numerous esteemed scholars and policy experts from India and abroad. Notable speakers and participants include Dr. Shamika Ravi, member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and Secretary in the Government of India; Prof. Thomas Pogue from Yale University; Emeritus Professor Deepak Nayyar from Jawaharlal Nehru University; Prof. Tetsushi Sonobe from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo; and Stefan Klingebiel from the German Institute of Development and Sustainability, among others from various prestigious international institutions, universities, and research organizations.

Prof. Chaturvedi emphasized that Nalanda University is committed to advancing global intellectual dialogue inspired by the ancient Nalanda’s tradition. This event aims to strengthen meaningful dialogue between the academic world and policymaking.
