Sylhet, 2 January. Chattogram Royals defeated Dhaka Capitals by 10 wickets in the 11th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26 and secured the second spot on the points table.
In the match played at Sylhet International Stadium on Friday, Dhaka Capitals lost the toss and were sent to bat, but were restricted to 122 runs in 19.4 overs.
The Capitals lost Saif Hasan in the very first over for 1 run. Usman Khan then tried to stabilise the innings by putting on a 26-run partnership with Zubaid Akbari in 22 balls for the second wicket.
Zubaid Akbari was dismissed cheaply for 2 runs off 12 balls, while Usman Khan scored 21 runs off 15 balls, including three fours. The team lost seven wickets for 66 runs in 12 overs.
Nasir Hussain and Saifuddin added 48 runs in 36 balls for the eighth wicket but could not take the total to a competitive level.
From the Royals’ bowling attack, Shariful Islam and Tanvir Islam took three wickets each, captain Mehedi Hasan claimed two wickets, and Aamir Jamal took one.
Chattogram Royals chased the target comfortably in 12.4 overs. Mohammad Naeem and Adam Rossington forged an unbeaten partnership to secure an easy victory.
Mohammad Naeem remained unbeaten on 54 runs off 40 balls, hitting one six and seven fours, while Rossington scored an unbeaten 60 runs off 36 balls, including two sixes and nine fours.
With two wins out of three matches, Chattogram Royals hold second place with a +1.430 net run rate. Dhaka Capitals, having lost two out of three, sit fifth. Rajshahi Royals lead the table with three wins from four matches.
