Mysterious Explosion Near International Border in Samba District, Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, March 23: A mysterious explosion occurred outside a house in a village in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday. Authorities are currently investigating the exact nature of the blast.

The explosion took place around 2 AM on Sunday outside the residence of Sarpanch Jairam Sharma in the Gawala Talab village, located approximately 10 kilometers from the international border in the Hegwal sector.

Officials reported that the explosion severely damaged the house’s gate and boundary wall, but fortunately, there were no casualties.

Police and forensic teams have arrived at the village to collect samples from the blast site in an effort to determine the specifics of the incident. An FIR has been registered at the relevant police station, and further information is awaited.

The 240-kilometer-long international border in the union territory runs through Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts. The Border Security Force (BSF) is responsible for securing this international boundary. BSF personnel are deployed to prevent infiltration, smuggling, and drone activities originating from the Pakistani side.

Terrorist organizations, with the assistance of the Pakistani military, have been using drones to drop weapons, cash, and drugs across the Indian border. These payloads are typically retrieved by operatives on the ground, who then hand them over to terrorists to sustain ongoing violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

To counter the threat of drone attacks from Pakistan, the BSF has deployed advanced anti-drone equipment along the international border.

In addition to the international border, Jammu and Kashmir also has a 740-kilometer-long Line of Control (LoC), which runs through the Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts in the valley, as well as the Poonch, Rajouri, and partially Jammu districts. The Indian Army is responsible for securing this LoC.
