Key contributions came from defender Gonzalo Luján, Michael, and captain Lionel Messi, who each scored crucial goals. Inter Miami took the lead in the fourth minute when Luján capitalized on a rebound after a failed attempt by Telasco Jose Segovia, putting the team ahead 1-0. However, New York City FC made a strong comeback, equalizing the score at 1-1 in the 17th minute with a goal from Nicolás Fernández. Messi had two opportunities to score but was unable to convert. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
The home team regained the lead in the 59th minute with a goal from Agustin Ozeda.
