Mukesh Rishi Explains Why Eight Members Resigned from CINTAA Amid Rising Tensions

Mumbai, August 10: Amid ongoing disputes within the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA), eight members of the Executive Committee have resigned. Actor Mukesh Rishi has shared his insights on the situation. In an interview, Rishi noted that over time, it became apparent that the committee was not moving forward with a unified vision.

He stated, “There was a noticeable lack of willpower, and it seemed that things were not progressing in the right direction. Initially, the mindset was completely different. The committee felt that any actor willing to contribute to CINTAA could come forward, regardless of their financial situation.”

Rishi elaborated, “As time passed, tensions began to rise within the committee, leading to several issues that did not sit well with him and other members.”

He provided an example: “If someone was removed from a position, another individual would also be left without a role. Such incidents prompted members to question whether they should remain in the committee or part ways.”

Ultimately, Rishi mentioned that there was a consensus among many members that they needed to come together and agree on a common stance. This understanding led to a meeting where members discussed the situation and collectively signed their resignations, clearly stating their reasons for leaving.

The controversy intensified following reports of 11 members resigning from CINTAA, with eight being elected members of the Executive Committee. This raised concerns about whether the entire Executive Committee had been dissolved and how the organization would function moving forward.

In response, CINTAA has categorically denied reports of the Executive Committee’s dissolution. The organization issued a public notice asserting that some disgruntled members are attempting to create confusion. “Our union is fully active and functioning through the Executive Committee,” they stated.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has also been mentioned in the controversy. CINTAA has accused FWICE of attempting to issue directives that fall outside its constitutional authority. “The internal workings and constitution of an independent trade union cannot be altered by external interference,” CINTAA emphasized.
