Motorola has officially launched its new flagship, the Motorola Signature, which features larger main and telephoto sensors compared to the Edge 50 Ultra, along with enhanced image processing algorithms. A detailed camera comparison by DxOMark sheds light on how this new model fares against the latest iPhone 17 Pro and Vivo X300 Pro.
DxOMark shared side-by-side photos taken by the Motorola Signature, iPhone 17 Pro, and Vivo X300 Pro under various lighting conditions to evaluate their camera performance.
In low-light conditions with challenging colours, the Motorola Signature surprisingly outperformed both competitors. It preserved wall details more clearly than the Vivo and iPhone models while maintaining natural skin tones, demonstrating its improved sensor and processing capabilities.
For portrait shots, the Vivo X300 Pro strikes a balance between a natural and enhanced look, with well-managed lighting and colour on the subject’s face. The Motorola Signature matches the Vivo in brightness and edge detection but produces a slightly warmer tone compared to the iPhone’s more natural output.
The Motorola Signature’s periscope telephoto camera houses a 1/1.95-inch 50MP sensor, positioned between the Vivo X300 Pro’s 1/1.4-inch 200MP sensor and the iPhone 17 Pro’s 1/2.55-inch 48MP sensor. With smartphone photography in 2026 relying heavily on software and AI, the question remains how the Signature compares to the Vivo X300 Pro in real use.
Though the exact zoom focal lengths weren’t disclosed, the Motorola Signature’s zoomed images showed noticeably more detail than those from the iPhone 17 Pro and were close, but slightly behind, the Vivo X300 Pro. DxOMark also highlighted better noise control in shadow areas on the Motorola, indicating significant improvements in image processing.
Currently, the Motorola Signature ranks seventh in DxOMark’s smartphone camera rankings, placing it ahead of notable models such as the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The phone is expected to launch in select European markets next month, with a starting price around £899.99 / €999. Wider availability is anticipated in the following months.
