Bhopal, Aug 12 (H.S.) – The monsoon has made a strong comeback in Madhya Pradesh, bringing renewed showers across several parts of the state. While some regions continue to experience humidity, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain warning for 11 districts, including Jabalpur, over the next 24 hours. Rainfall could reach up to 4.5 inches in these areas.

From August 13, a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal is expected to influence weather patterns across the state, affecting Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain divisions as well.

Meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said rainfall is currently being driven by a trough and two cyclonic circulation systems. “A low-pressure area will become active from August 13, and from August 15 onwards, we expect sustained heavy rainfall,” she stated.

In the next 24 hours, heavy rain is likely in Chhatarpur, Satna, Panna, Rewa, Maihar, Damoh, Katni, Jabalpur, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat districts. On August 13, rainfall is forecast in southern parts of the state, while on August 14, heavy showers are expected across districts in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Indore, and Jabalpur divisions.

On Monday, scattered rainfall was recorded across the state — ranging from heavy to light showers. Chhatarpur’s Nowgaon recorded 2.3 inches of rainfall, while Datia, Gwalior, Pachmarhi, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, and Seoni reported light rain.

The monsoon entered Madhya Pradesh on June 16 this year, and since then, the state has received an average of 29.5 inches of rainfall.
