Mumbai, April 2: Actress Mona Singh is currently busy promoting her upcoming series, ‘Maa Ka Sam.’ During this time, she urged people not to glorify their mothers’ pain but to recognize that they have their own world, which deserves understanding.
In the series, she portrays Vinita, a modern single mother on a journey of love, life, and self-discovery, all on her own terms.
She stated, “I believe it is essential, especially for young audiences, to see their mothers first as human beings. They have dreams, emotions, and lives that extend far beyond just being parents. If this story helps people understand and accept this a little more, I think it will be a valuable lesson.”
Discussing her character, Mona shared, “I have played mother roles before, but Vinita feels very different. She is not written as the ‘perfect’ and ‘sacrificing’ mother we have seen for years. For a long time, we have placed mothers on a pedestal, where their entire identity is limited to giving and giving. But Vinita breaks this notion. Yes, she is a mother, but she is also a woman with her own life, choices, and desires. She needs a partner, is open to dating, and makes decisions about her life on her terms. This honesty is what attracted me most to this character; it feels very real and relevant today.”
