Modi Promises Accountability for TMC After May 4 Elections

Rambagh, April 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ in Rambagh on Sunday, ahead of the second phase of voting in West Bengal. He noted that during his previous visit to Singur, he witnessed the public’s anger towards the TMC’s ruthless governance. Today, that anger has reached its peak, unified by a single purpose.

He stated that for 15 years, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has exploited the people of Bengal. However, they have forgotten one crucial fact: when oppression reaches its limit, the public rises like Goddess Durga to vanquish injustice. The massive turnout at every polling booth is a clear message: fear out, trust in. The TMC’s brutal government does not operate from the Nabanna Secretariat; it is either run by goons or reacts only after directives from the High Court and Supreme Court.

Modi emphasized that he had predicted that all previous voting records in Bengal would be shattered, and the people proved him right on April 23. Now, they must break the records set on that day. Those who failed to gauge the public mood are astonished by the high voter turnout. TMC leaders are worried, as they did not anticipate such a significant participation.

He pointed out that the TMC government has lost the trust of the people through its misdeeds, forcing citizens to frequently approach the courts. The teacher recruitment scam, where TMC ministers exploited the system, has ruined the futures of thousands of youths. A sensitive government would have conducted an honest investigation, but the courts had to intervene, indicating the TMC’s credibility is at an all-time low.

During the 2023 Panchayat elections, which the state government oversees, the court concluded that the TMC was incapable of providing security, leading to the deployment of central forces. This further underscores the TMC’s lack of reliability. Another example is the investigation into the Sandeshkhali case, where the court raised questions about the TMC government’s integrity.

Modi asserted that today, every woman in Bengal is saying, “No more.” After May 4, every goon, oppressor, and corrupt individual from the TMC will be held accountable. Empowering women is a priority for our government. The BJP is committed to providing new opportunities for sisters and daughters. The Lakhpati Didi campaign aims to assist 7.5 million women in Bengal to become financially independent, enabling them to earn over one lakh rupees annually. They will also be eligible for loans of up to 20 lakh rupees to start their own businesses.

He expressed confidence that the first cabinet meeting of the BJP government would decide to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme, offering free medical treatment up to five lakh rupees for women. Women in Bengal have made their choice, and their blessings are with the BJP. Every woman stands against the TMC’s oppressive regime, as seen in the first phase of the elections. Bengal was once a leader in women’s empowerment, but now it is plagued by reports of rapes and murders.
