Mobile App Trial Launched for Fertilizer Distribution in Navsari, Gujarat

Navsari, June 24: A mobile application trial has commenced in Navsari district, Gujarat, aimed at simplifying and enhancing transparency in fertilizer distribution for farmers. This digital platform allows farmers to pre-book fertilizers and track the availability of subsidized products, with the goal of improving efficiency in the distribution system.

Developed under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Fertilizer Cell Application System is being piloted in Navsari. Farmers can register using their Aadhaar details, enter their land information, and receive a QR code to purchase fertilizers from authorized dealers based on real-time availability.

Local farmers have expressed relief, stating they no longer need to visit multiple stores or stand in long queues. Ashok Gandhi, a farmer from Navsari, mentioned that he can now secure fertilizers in advance through the app. He stated, “This app created by the government is very useful for farmers. It will help regulate fertilizer usage and make farming easier. It is truly beneficial.”

After registration, farmers can check fertilizer availability at nearby stores and present their QR code, linked to their eligibility and booking details, to receive their supplies.

According to agriculture department officials, the platform aims to ensure that subsidized fertilizers reach the right beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner while reducing congestion at retail centers.

P.R. Kathiria, the Deputy Director of Agriculture in Navsari, emphasized that this app is designed to enhance convenience for farmers. He noted, “Farmers will be able to see which stores nearby have fertilizers available without having to wander around or wait in lines.”

Officials also highlighted that this digital system monitors the availability, demand, and distribution of fertilizers in real-time, thereby improving the supply chain’s effectiveness.

The pilot project in Navsari is under observation, and if successful, it may be implemented in other districts across Gujarat.
