Naypyidaw (Myanmar), December 9 (Daily Kiran) – A mild earthquake shook Myanmar in the early hours between Monday and Tuesday. The tremor registered a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale.
According to India’s National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 1:21 AM Indian Standard Time on December 9, 2025. The epicenter was located about 30 kilometers below the earth’s surface.
Earlier on Monday, two other tremors were felt. The first one struck at 10:18 AM with a magnitude of 3.8, originating at a depth of 80 kilometers. The second tremor occurred at 3:46 PM, registering a magnitude of 3.5, with its epicenter 10 kilometers deep.
It is important to note that Myanmar is highly susceptible to earthquakes and tsunamis due to its location at the junction of four tectonic plates: the Indian, Eurasian, Sunda, and Burma plates.
