Mumbai, May 25:
To solidify its position in the Indian automotive market, Maruti Suzuki, the country’s leading car manufacturer, is preparing for significant advancements. The company’s ambitious ‘Vision 3.0’ plan aims to elevate its vehicle lineup.
The primary goals of this strategy include doubling production capacity, tripling exports, and expanding its model range from 19 to 29 by the fiscal year 2030-31. A key focus of this plan is the SUV segment, where Maruti Suzuki is set to launch four new large SUVs in 2026-27, expected to shake up the market.
New Maruti Brezza Facelift
The Maruti Brezza, one of India’s favorite subcompact SUVs, is about to undergo its most significant update yet. The standout feature of the 2026 Brezza facelift is its new engine. The existing naturally aspirated engine may be replaced with a robust 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine from the Fronx.
This powerful engine promises a more exhilarating and sporty driving experience. It could be paired with a new 6-speed manual transmission. Leaked images suggest that the cabin will boast a larger infotainment system, fresh upholstery, premium interior finishes, and numerous new features enhancing usability.
Maruti Fronx Hybrid
Maruti Suzuki’s stylish compact crossover, the Fronx, is set for a significant mid-life update in early 2027. The highlight of this update will be its innovative strong hybrid powertrain, making it the first model in India to feature Maruti Suzuki’s proprietary “Series Hybrid Technology.”
In this setup, the 1.2-liter Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine will function solely as a generator, charging the battery pack while the vehicle operates on the electric motor. This configuration promises a quiet, smooth ride similar to that of electric vehicles. Reports indicate that this hybrid system could achieve impressive mileage of 30 to 35 km/l.
For enhanced safety, radar-based Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) sensors have been observed on test vehicles. Additionally, minor cosmetic updates will be made to the front bumper, headlights, and grille.
Maruti Grand Vitara Facelift
The Maruti Grand Vitara, a strong contender in the mid-size SUV market against the Hyundai Creta, is set to receive a major facelift in the latter half of 2026. This update will give the SUV a bolder and more contemporary appearance.
The new Grand Vitara facelift will feature a redesigned grille, a bumper with new contours, and stylish alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin will be equipped with premium features and advanced connectivity options.
However, the mechanical aspects will remain unchanged, continuing with the successful 1.5-liter petrol mild hybrid and Toyota-sourced strong hybrid engine options.
7-Seater Maruti Grand Vitara
For families seeking a larger, more spacious vehicle, Maruti is developing an all-new premium three-row (7-seater) SUV based on the Grand Vitara’s platform. This upcoming model will share its platform, engine options, features, and several key components with its 5-seater sibling.
This SUV is designed specifically for larger families. To accommodate a third row of seats, it will be longer than the standard Grand Vitara, competing directly with larger models such as the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.
