London, August 24: Manchester City kicked off their English Premier League campaign with a remarkable victory. The team staged a comeback to defeat Bournemouth 2-1 after initially trailing in the match on Sunday.
Following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield last week, Manchester City faced early challenges when Marcus Tavernier put Bournemouth ahead with a swift counterattack in the 26th minute. However, City responded strongly in the second half. With just six minutes left in the match, Marc Guéhi scored a stunning header from Ryan Cherki’s corner, leveling the score. Cherki then sealed the victory for City with a second goal in the 91st minute.
In another match, Liverpool’s new coach Andoni Iraola had a challenging start against Newcastle United, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw. Anthony Elanga put the home team ahead just five minutes into the match. Cody Gakpo equalized in the 55th minute with a shot from outside the box.
