Jammu, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : A shocking incident unfolded in Jammu when a birthday party escalated into violence, resulting in a man’s death. Police reported on September 18 that a confrontation over cake led to a fatal stabbing during the celebration.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at a birthday gathering where a man named Pawan Nair, also known as Sameer, was attacked by his friends John Sotra, Gaurav Singh, and Sugandh Bhatti. They rushed him to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The police team quickly responded to the scene at GMC Jammu after receiving reports of the incident. Initial investigations revealed that on Thursday, a man named Neeraj, also known as Anshu, was celebrating his birthday near Lower Roop Nagar. Present at the party were Sotra, Singh, Bhatti, and Nair, along with Neeraj’s brother, Rishu. During the cake-cutting, Nair playfully smeared cake on Neeraj’s face, which sparked a heated argument.
Despite attempts from others to intervene, Neeraj, in a fit of rage, grabbed a knife and attacked Nair, inflicting serious injuries. Friends quickly transported Nair to GMC Jammu, where he was declared dead.
In response to the incident, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 103(1) at the Janipur police station and launched an investigation. Both Neeraj and his brother Rishu have been apprehended and are currently in police custody. Authorities are also working to recover the weapon used in the crime. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Jammu police assured that strict and timely action will be taken against the accused as per the law.
This tragic event follows another violent incident just a day earlier when a man was shot dead at his home in Reshamgarh Colony. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Deepak Sharma, was a newspaper vendor.
