Rahul Gandhis Indore Speech Sparks Fact-Check Claims and BJP Criticism

New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Rahul Gandhi‘s recent statements during an event in Indore have ignited controversy, leading to a fact-check claim on social media. The account “Echo of Lies” on the platform X (formerly Twitter) labeled his accusations as false. Additionally, BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde took aim at Gandhi, heralding the ABVP’s victory in the Delhi University student union elections as a “victory of nationalism.”

The “Echo of Lies” account refuted Gandhi’s assertion that 13 percent of positions had been withheld in all recruitment processes by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) over the past eight years, resulting in 487,000 pending positions. The post argued that the 87:13 formula has not been in effect for the last eight years, citing a circular from the Madhya Pradesh General Administration Department issued on September 29, 2022, which allegedly invalidates its application to past recruitment processes.

The post further explained that the controversy began when the previous Kamal Nath government raised OBC reservation from 14 percent to 27 percent in 2019, leading to legal challenges. It claimed that recruitment was not entirely halted; rather, appointments continued for 87 percent of positions, while interim lists were prepared for the remaining 13 percent to comply with the court’s final verdict.

Furthermore, it was noted that the Madhya Pradesh High Court upheld the 87:13 formula as an interim arrangement in January 2025, affecting approximately 10,000 positions in various recruitments, not the 487,000 MPPSC positions cited by Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Vinod Tawde expressed his congratulations to ABVP workers on X, stating, “Victory of nationalism against the Echo of Lies.” He highlighted that the ABVP achieved a historic sweep across all panels in most colleges at Delhi University. Tawde expressed confidence that ABVP members would continue to work for student welfare, inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

As of now, the Congress party has not released a detailed response addressing the claims made by Gandhi or the counterarguments presented by the “Echo of Lies” account.
