Kolkata, April 25: The political landscape in West Bengal is heating up as all parties gear up for the second phase of voting in the assembly elections. Sayantika Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from the Baranagar constituency, has made a passionate appeal for votes in favor of her party, highlighting the government’s achievements.
In a recent conversation, Sayantika Banerjee emphasized that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has treated everyone equally, without bias towards any political affiliation, be it BJP, TMC, or CPI(M). She stated that Mamata has worked for all, regardless of their religion or background, and expressed confidence that voters will make their decisions based on the government’s performance. “Only one person has truly worked for the people, and that is Mamata Didiji,” she asserted.
Sayantika also addressed the SIR issue, noting that no one stood by her during that time, not even when it reached the Supreme Court. “People know who is acting and who stood firm when needed. Those who speak Bengali cannot be intruders; I speak Bengali too,” she remarked.
The TMC candidate clarified that those whose names are not on the voter list are still valid voters in the area.
Expressing gratitude for the support from RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Sayantika acknowledged his prominence in politics, as well as his father’s legacy. “He is a strong leader who has come here to support Mamata Didiji and our party. Many people from Bihar live here happily and work without issues. We do not view things from a vote-bank perspective, nor do we try to use anyone for that purpose. If you have a valid voter ID and are working here to earn a living, that is perfectly fine,” she stated.
TMC MP Jun Maliya added that the people of Bengal know how to teach a lesson, indicating that the BJP will face consequences. “It is clear that the people are with Mamata Banerjee. We have seen how they voted in the first phase. Game on,” she declared.
TMC MP Sayoni Ghosh commented on the momentum, stating that the “Didiji tsunami” has already begun in the first phase and is expected to continue into the second phase. She noted that the BJP had claimed over 200 seats in the 2021 elections but ended up with only 70. “This time, they will go below 50 seats,” she predicted.
