
Rudrapur, July 11: In a significant development in a serious POCSO Act case involving a minor, police in Udham Singh Nagar’s Rudrapur have made a major breakthrough. Authorities have arrested one named accused, while a juvenile, identified as the main perpetrator, has been placed under protective custody.
Under the guidance of SSP Ajay Ganapati, police teams, assisted by the SOG and surveillance units, gathered technical evidence. They conducted a thorough analysis of footage from over 100 CCTV cameras.
Based on the investigation, Manoj Kumar (32) has been apprehended. Additionally, sections 16 and 17 of the POCSO Act have been invoked based on the evidence collected during the inquiry.
The police have stated that they are actively pursuing other suspects and the investigation is ongoing. SSP Ajay Ganapati emphasized the police’s zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children, assuring that strict legal action will be taken against all offenders.
City CO Vibhav Saini reported that two suspects have been identified in the case of gang rape. One juvenile suspect has been taken into protective custody, while the hotel owner has been arrested. Police are making continuous efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and will present them in court as soon as possible.
