Major Mishap Averted at Gwalior Airport, Air India Flight Makes Two Rough Landings

Gwalior, 16 August (Kiran News). A major accident was averted at Gwalior airport on Saturday afternoon when Air India Express flight IX2742 from Bengaluru to Gwalior had to execute a go-around after its initial landing attempt, followed by a rough second landing. The incident caused panic among passengers, with some becoming visibly anxious.

Passengers alleged that neither the pilot nor the crew provided any information, which made the situation even more frightening. One passenger expressed anger, saying, “If something had happened, Air India would have only offered garlands and incense sticks as compensation.” A woman passenger reported that during the landing, the life jackets came out of their compartments, increasing panic inside the cabin.

According to reports, the flight departed from Bengaluru at 10:50 am and reached Gwalior around 1:30 pm. During the first landing attempt, a sudden jolt led to a go-around, and the subsequent landing was also quite rough.

Air India Express Statement

An airline spokesperson said, “One of our aircraft performed a go-around at Gwalior and then landed safely and normally. Our crew is trained to conduct a go-around whenever necessary as a precaution. The aircraft later operated as per its scheduled programme.”
