Major Heist Uncovered: ₹29 Lakh Stolen from GST Consultant in Greater Noida

New Delhi, August 12: The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police has made significant progress in a case involving the theft of ₹29 lakh from a GST consultant in the Bisrakh area of Greater Noida. Five suspects have been arrested, and the police claim to have recovered the entire stolen amount. This includes ₹24.5 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewelry worth approximately ₹4.5 lakh. The police also seized two cars used in the crime, seven mobile phones, and uniforms of a police sub-inspector and Delhi Civil Defence.

According to the police, the suspects posed as GST officials and blackmailed the victim under the pretext of verifying fake e-way bills. They threatened to imprison the victim over GST-related issues and extorted ₹29 lakh from him. To crack the case, the police formed five teams, utilizing surveillance, CCTV footage, and local intelligence to track down the culprits.

The incident occurred on July 20, 2026, when the GST consultant, Sandeep, was leaving his residential society with his pet dog and laptop. The suspects blocked his car near the SS Aspire Society. One of the suspects entered Sandeep’s vehicle, claiming to be a GST officer, and accused him of discrepancies in the e-way bills of two firms. They then blackmailed him with threats of legal action and imprisonment, forcing him to comply.

During this ordeal, Sandeep’s pet dog was handed over to an accomplice on the expressway. Investigations revealed that the main suspect, Kashish, also known as Eshu Chauhan, was previously acquainted with Sandeep. They had been in contact since 2021, and the suspects were aware of Sandeep’s work in GST, which they exploited to execute their plan.

The police reported that during the incident, the main suspect, Kashish, was dressed in a police sub-inspector’s uniform. He drove Sandeep’s car while another accomplice sat in the front seat, exerting pressure on Sandeep by claiming to be government officials. The suspects demanded the money through Sandeep’s phone. When Sandeep’s brother arrived with ₹29 lakh in cash, the suspects took the money and fled in their vehicle, leaving Sandeep with his car.

Among the arrested suspects, Kashish Chauhan, also known as Eshu, is a resident of Bijnor and currently lives in Salarpur, Noida. He is reportedly employed as a driver and pump operator in Dwarka, Delhi. The second suspect, Rajesh Pawar, is associated with the Delhi Civil Defence. The third suspect, Vivek Sharma, has worked as a driver in Ballabgarh. The fourth suspect, Ankit Shahi, is involved in manufacturing iron grills and gates, while the fifth suspect, Anshul, works in property dealings in Delhi.

The police clarified that none of the five arrested individuals are actual police officers, although some have connections to government services. Investigations into their criminal backgrounds are ongoing. The police have successfully recovered ₹24.5 lakh in cash, along with gold chains, silver bracelets, and rings purchased with the stolen money.

In total, the police have recovered 100% of the ₹29 lakh stolen. They also seized the vehicles used in the crime and a Venue car without a license plate. The police found seven mobile phones, a police sub-inspector’s uniform, and uniforms associated with the Delhi Civil Defence.

The Bisrakh police station has registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. The police have identified the suspects through CCTV footage, surveillance, and local informants, arresting them near the Scon Temple on Jalapura Road. Further investigations into the suspects’ connections and criminal histories are underway.
