Major Drug Bust in Sukma: 21 Kilograms of Marijuana Seized, Suspect Arrested

Konta, March 28: In a significant operation against illegal drugs, police in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, arrested a suspect and seized 21 kilograms of marijuana along with a scooter used for transportation. This information was released by the police on Saturday.

The Sukma police have been intensifying their crackdown on anti-social elements. This operation is being led by Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavhan, along with Additional Superintendent of Police Rohit Shah, Abhishek Verma, and Manoj Tirki. The police’s Sub-Divisional Officer, Dr. Prashant Devangan, is overseeing the intensified efforts to apprehend offenders.

On Friday, the Konta police received a tip-off that an individual was transporting illegal marijuana from the Kalimela area of Odisha to Konta on a white scooter. Acting swiftly, the police set up checkpoints on National Highway-30 and other locations to conduct thorough inspections of suspicious vehicles.

During this operation, a suspect attempted to evade the police by quickly turning his Honda Activa scooter around upon seeing the blockade. However, the police successfully cornered him and made the arrest.

The arrested individual was identified as K. Shiva Reddy, a 22-year-old resident of Hayatnagar, Hyderabad, in the Ranga Reddy district of Telangana. During the search, police discovered two bags containing a total of ten packets of illegal marijuana, weighing 21.630 kilograms. The estimated market value of the seized marijuana is approximately ₹1,081,500.

In addition to the marijuana, the police confiscated the scooter, valued at around ₹25,000. The suspect has been presented in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
