Major Drug Bust in Chhattisgarh: Two Arrested with Large Quantity of Marijuana

Raipur, March 24: In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Basna police in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district have achieved a major breakthrough. Acting on a tip-off, authorities set up a blockade during vehicle checks, leading to the arrest of two individuals transporting illegal narcotics. The police seized a substantial quantity of marijuana, valued at over ₹18 lakh.

On March 22, Vijay Solanki (44) and Ramesh Kherada (43), both residents of Gujarat, were caught in a white Eco car carrying the illegal substance. Upon inspection, police discovered a total of 22.890 kilograms of marijuana stored in two separate bags. The estimated market value of the seized marijuana is approximately ₹11.44 lakh.

In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated the white Eco car, valued at around ₹7 lakh, and two mobile phones worth ₹10,000. Overall, the total value of the seized items amounts to ₹18,54,500. Following this operation, both suspects have been charged under Section 20 of the NDPS Act. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Basna police have taken custody of the accused and the seized property, initiating legal proceedings.

Police reports indicate that Vijay Solanki, son of Karsan Bhai, resides in Vishwakarma Society, Vishwa Nagar, Barasa, Surat (Gujarat), while Ramesh Kherada, son of Purushottam Kherada, lives in Nanimala Bapa Sitaram Chowk, Paliyana, Bhavnagar (Gujarat).

Authorities are conducting thorough interrogations of the suspects to identify any additional accomplices involved in this case. They are also investigating any previous criminal records associated with the accused.
