Bijapur, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) achieved a significant breakthrough in its anti-Naxalite campaign in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. Acting on reliable intelligence, the 199th battalion conducted an extensive search operation in the dense forests of areas including Pidia and Kuppaguda, specifically in Edri, Harra, Nayapara, and Sarpanchpara. Under the guidance of Commandant Anand Kumar and Deputy Commandant Darshan Yadav, troops from B/199 and F/199 companies, along with Young Platoon, executed the operation.
During the search, the forces uncovered 14 Naxalite dumps hidden in the forest. The seized items included one .303 bolt-action rifle, five muzzle-loading rifles, and one improvised 12-bore shotgun. Additionally, the haul comprised ten improvised explosive devices (IEDs), eight detonators, codex wire, a wireless set, and various electric materials used in IED construction, along with Naxalite clothing. In total, 99 types of dangerous materials were confiscated.
Security forces cordoned off the area and conducted the search with utmost caution, ensuring that there were no casualties during the operation. According to CRPF officials, the ongoing campaign has effectively curtailed Naxalite activities and enhanced the sense of security among local residents.
Previously, police had discovered a Naxalite dump in the forests of Pegadapalli in Bijapur. On August 29, during an operation in the Pegadapalli forest area, a suspect named Bogam Lakhmu (39) was apprehended. During interrogation, he admitted to being a member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and transporting materials and explosives for the Naxalites.
During the search, authorities recovered ₹50,050 in cash, one BGL launcher, 18 BGL cells, 12 arrow bombs, one hand grenade, 15 live rounds for the .303 rifle, 31 BGL cartridges, one empty INSAS magazine, electrical wire, three round chargers, and an emitter lead.
