Major Crackdown on LPG Hoarding and Black Market in Jammu and Kashmir

Doda, March 15: In a significant operation against the hoarding and black market of essential goods, police in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, seized 75 LPG cylinders from the Bhaderwah area. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with this case.

According to police reports, a team from the Bhaderwah police station received a tip-off on Saturday regarding illegal sales of LPG cylinders in the area. Acting on this information, the police team swiftly arrived at the scene and conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Abdul Hamid, son of Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Masjid Mohalla Bhaderwah; Ghulam Rasool, son of Abdul Aziz Wani, from Mashra Dhar Tehsil Marwah (currently residing in Pasari Bhaderwah); and Mohammad Sakhi, son of Ghulam Mohammad, from Kulhand Doda (currently residing in Chakka Bhaderwah).

During the investigation, police recovered 8 filled and 15 empty LPG cylinders from Abdul Hamid, while Ghulam Rasool had 28 filled and 24 empty cylinders in his possession. In total, 75 LPG cylinders were confiscated from the three suspects.

An FIR has been registered at the Bhaderwah police station under number 29/2026. The suspects face charges under sections 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, and further investigations are underway.

Doda police emphasized that hoarding and black marketing of essential goods directly impact the public. They assured that strict action will continue against offenders. The police also urged the community to report any illegal activities promptly to facilitate timely intervention.
