
New Delhi, May 4: The Shahdara district unit of the Delhi Police has executed a significant operation against illegal liquor trafficking. In this case, an inter-state liquor smuggler has been apprehended. Authorities seized 53 cases of illegal liquor intended for sale in Haryana, along with a Honda City car from the suspect.
The operation was conducted by the Feroz Shah Kotla police station team based on a tip-off received on May 2. The police were informed that illegal liquor was being smuggled into Delhi using a Honda City car from Haryana. Following this, the police devised a strategy, setting up barricades at various locations to monitor the situation.
Upon stopping the suspicious vehicle for inspection, a large quantity of liquor was discovered. The police arrested the accused, Dildar, a resident of Kairana in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh.
In total, 53 cases of liquor were confiscated during this operation, along with the Honda City car. A case has been registered at the Feroz Shah Kotla police station, invoking sections of the Delhi Excise Act.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had been involved in illegal liquor trafficking for a long time to earn easy money. He supplied liquor from Haryana to Delhi using private vehicles to evade police detection. The accused also admitted to having participated in various illegal activities, including arms trafficking.
Previous cases against him have been filed under the Arms Act at the Bawana police station and the Delhi Excise Act at the same location. The Shahdara district police stated that strict action against illegal liquor and other unlawful activities will continue to ensure public safety.
