Major Changes Effective July 1: Impact on LPG Prices, Passports, and More

New Delhi, July 1: As June comes to an end, July brings several significant changes that will directly affect your wallet. Starting Wednesday, adjustments have been made regarding Aadhaar, passport fees, vehicle prices, and LPG rates.

Oil distribution companies have announced a reduction in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders effective July 1. In the national capital, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has decreased by ₹183.50, now costing ₹2,930, down from ₹3,113.50. However, the price of the 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged at ₹942.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has declared that individuals wishing to update their email ID in their Aadhaar can do so for free from July 1 to December 31. Previously, this update cost ₹75. This initiative aims to encourage citizens to keep their Aadhaar information current.

Additionally, the government has increased the fees for passport applications. The cost for a standard passport has risen from ₹1,500 to ₹2,500. For urgent passport processing, the fee has increased from ₹3,500 to ₹5,000. This new fee structure is effective from July 1.

Several automobile companies, including Tata Motors, Kia Motors, MG Motors, and BMW, have also raised their prices starting July 1. Tata Motors has increased prices for passenger vehicles by up to 1.5%, while commercial vehicle prices have risen by up to 2.5%. Kia Motors and BMW have raised their prices by 2% each, and MG Motors has increased prices by 3%.

Moreover, changes to various credit card rules have taken effect from July 1. Reports indicate that SBI Cards has modified the reward points for select PhonePe SBI cards, imposing new limits and removing certain transactions from the rewards category. Meanwhile, HDFC has announced that holders of the Regalia Gold credit card can now access domestic airport lounges three times per calendar year, provided they spend at least ₹60,000 each quarter.
