Major Bust by Mumbai Police Uncovers International Sex Trafficking Ring

Mumbai, February 28: In a significant operation against human trafficking, the Mumbai Police have uncovered an international sex trafficking ring operating out of a hotel in Andheri East. Two foreign women from Uganda, who were allegedly lured to India under the pretense of job opportunities, were rescued from forced prostitution. Four hotel staff members have been arrested, while the hotel owner and a Kenyan woman, believed to be a key figure in the operation, remain at large.

According to the Mumbai Police, this action was initiated following a complaint from a female officer at the Santa Cruz police station. Authorities received confidential information regarding suspicious activities at Hotel Villa Palace located on A.K. Road in Andheri East. The subsequent raid revealed shocking details. Investigations revealed that the two Ugandan women, aged 30 and 36, were brought to India under false pretenses of employment and were later confined in the hotel for the purpose of exploitation.

Police reports indicate that a Kenyan national named Jasmine played a crucial role in bringing the women to Mumbai, arranging their accommodation, and facilitating client interactions. The victims were subjected to strict restrictions on their movements. The investigation also uncovered serious violations of regulations concerning foreign nationals. The hotel management failed to maintain accurate records of foreign guests and did not submit the mandatory C-form. The absence of the women’s names in the hotel register suggests a conspiracy to conceal evidence.

During the raid, hotel manager Vivek Kumar Vaidyanath Yadav (26) and housekeeping staff Anil Kumar Joku Pushpakar (24), Dheeraj Madhukar Jawale (35), and Mahesh Rajpal Rajwaria (45) were apprehended.

The police are now actively searching for hotel owner Akshay Dilip Shedge and the fugitive Kenyan woman Jasmine. CCTV footage from the hotel has been seized and is under thorough examination. Officials suggest that this case may extend beyond a single hotel, raising concerns about a larger international human trafficking network. As the investigation progresses, further revelations and arrests are anticipated.
