New Delhi, March 7: The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has achieved a significant success by apprehending two minors who had been on the run for nearly a month in an attempted murder case. The suspects, aged 15 and 17, are brothers.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on February 6, 2026. Mukesh, a resident of the G-Block in Jahangirpuri, returned home from work to find that his son had been slapped by two boys from the neighborhood without any provocation. Alarmed, Mukesh went to confront the boys at their shanty with his brother. A heated argument ensued between the two parties.
During the confrontation, the minors allegedly threatened Mukesh and his brother before suddenly attacking them with a knife. Mukesh’s brother sustained serious injuries, with stab wounds to his shoulder and abdomen. When Mukesh attempted to intervene, he too was injured by a knife. Following the incident, an attempted murder case was registered at the Jahangirpuri police station.
The two minors fled the scene immediately after the attack and had been evading capture for nearly a month. Meanwhile, the Crime Branch received crucial information about their whereabouts. A special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Sandeep Swami, with oversight from ACP Girish Kaushik. The team included several officers, such as SI Pradeep Dhul, SI Anil Saroh, and ASI Sunil.
Utilizing human intelligence and technical surveillance, the police tracked the location of the two boys. Ultimately, the team successfully apprehended them in the Jahangirpuri area. During questioning, both minors admitted their involvement in the incident. They were subsequently taken into custody under the law.
Further investigation revealed that the brothers had lived in Jahangirpuri since childhood and had limited education—one had completed the eighth grade while the other had only reached the sixth. Their father works as a laborer in Delhi, and they have a total of five siblings in the family.
Police stated that preliminary investigations indicated the attack was motivated by a desire to assert dominance in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
