New Delhi, March 29: The Shakarpur police in Delhi have apprehended four members of a high-tech gang posing as fake recovery agents. This group deceived individuals by pretending to be bank recovery agents and employed technical devices for on-street collections.
According to police officials, the victim, Keshav Kumar, reported that on March 26, he was stopped by individuals in a white Brezza car near ITO on Vikas Marg. The suspects forcibly took him with them under the pretense of bank recovery, assaulted him, and threatened him. They extorted ₹18,000 through an online transfer. After escaping, Keshav Kumar informed the police about the incident.
In response, a special police team was formed, including Inspector Vijender Nagar, SI Anubhav, Vishal, Head Constable Rahul, and Rahul Pawar. Technical surveillance and informant tips revealed that the gang was using an app to identify vehicles with outstanding EMIs. Based on tracking the suspects’ locations and analyzing mobile data, four accused—Prince, Shivam, Titu, and Akash—were arrested.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had adopted an organized and technology-based approach. They targeted vehicle owners on busy roads using a white Brezza car. Pretending to be bank recovery agents, they intimidated victims, assaulted them, and extorted money through QR codes and online transfers.
The Shakarpur police recovered five phones and the white Brezza car during this operation. Further investigations are ongoing to identify other potential victims and accomplices. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or vehicles immediately.
Police officials stated that interrogations of the suspects are underway to determine how many more individuals are involved in the gang. All accomplices will be apprehended soon.
