Mahesh Tapase Critiques West Bengal Election Results as Administrative Orders

Mumbai, May 6: Mahesh Tapase, spokesperson for the NCP (SP), expressed his views following the party’s defeat in the West Bengal elections. He commented on Mamata Banerjee’s refusal to resign and her allegations of electoral misconduct.

In an interview with a news agency, Tapase stated, “I completely agree with Mamata Banerjee’s assertion that the West Bengal results are not a product of democratic governance. They are the outcome of actions by the ED, CBI, Income Tax Department, police investigations, and CRPF. No one considers this a mandate from the people. Mamata Banerjee is correct in saying that this is not a public mandate, but rather an administrative order.”

Regarding allegations that Congress deceived the DMK to support the victorious party in Tamil Nadu, Tapase remarked, “There is no deception involved. I don’t think this should be termed as trickery. The party that is elected to form the government makes such decisions. They must have consulted with the Congress high command. Congress has one goal, which is to keep the BJP out of power. The political climate since 2014 in Maharashtra and across the country has not been favorable to anyone. Therefore, if someone is seeking support to form a secular front, it should certainly be considered. I don’t believe there is any betrayal involved.”

On the recent incident in Mira Road, Tapase stated, “I want to emphasize that Mumbai, Maharashtra, and India will not tolerate any form of communalism or terrorist attacks. Any necessary actions by the administration will be executed with full force.”

Commenting on Donald Trump’s congratulations to Prime Minister Modi regarding the victory in West Bengal, Tapase questioned, “What role does India play in the agreements being made with Iran, which are actually being orchestrated by Pakistan?”
