Kolhapur, August 9: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Kolhapur to pay tribute to Dr. D.Y. Patil and met with his family members. The Chief Minister described Dr. Patil as a seasoned leader who remained deeply connected to the state and its people.
During a media interaction in Kolhapur, Fadnavis stated that Dr. D.Y. Patil was a remarkable leader from the previous generation. His contributions to education and industry are evident, benefiting thousands today. He excelled in his role as a leader and also served as the governor of three states.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Dr. Patil left a significant mark in every responsibility he undertook. Even during his tenure as governor, he stayed connected to his people and state, never abandoning them. Conversations with him always left a lasting impression on Fadnavis.
Fadnavis also shared his visit on social media, stating, “The recent passing of Padma Shri Dr. D.Y. Patil, who made an indelible impact on politics, social service, education, and cooperative sectors in Maharashtra, is a personal loss for me. I paid my respects at his residence in Kolhapur and offered condolences to the Patil family.”
He further reflected, “Every conversation with the late Dr. D.Y. Patil was enriching. His guidance and countless memories will always remain in my heart. His demise has left a void that can never be filled. I pay my heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. D.Y. Patil.”
Additionally, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar also visited Dr. Patil’s home in Kolhapur to meet with the family. She expressed her deep condolences on social media, stating, “Today, I visited the residence of Congress leader Satej Patil in Kolhapur to express my heartfelt sympathies to the family. I paid tribute to the late Padma Shri Dr. D.Y. Patil, a senior educator, former governor, and founder of the D.Y. Patil Group.”
Pawar highlighted Dr. Patil’s significant contributions to education, health, sports, and social service, stating that his work for social progress through education will always be remembered. In this time of sorrow, she prayed for the Patil family’s strength to endure this loss.
